I often prepare Bread Pizza for my daughter, Pasta, using ingredients I already have on hand. Naturally, I resort to this recipe when I don't have a pizza base readily available or lack the time to buy or bake one. We always have regular bread at home, usually store-bought. While I bake only two or three times a month, and Pasta prefers my homemade bread, my busy work schedule prevents me from baking as often as I'd like. This is likely why I frequently opt for Bread Pizza, using readily available ingredients as a substitute for traditional pizza.
Indian Style Bread Pizza

As the name implies, this pizza uses bread as its base. Of course, it's not an authentic pizza, but it's a dish many Indians, including my family, enjoy making with bread found in the kitchen.
Making homemade Pizza in a Tawa (or using an oven)

As I've mentioned before, I use readily available ingredients like vegetables, chicken, ham, bacon, and cheese, along with my pizza sauce. I always prepare large batches of pizza sauce, adjusting the spices to our liking. I make both vegetarian and non-vegetarian pizzas. Also, I usually grill them on the stovetop in a skillet or pan, but they can also be baked in an oven using convection mode. I will explain both methods here.

I make these pizzas quite often because the ingredients are so easy to find. This was Pasta's favorite snack throughout the 2020 lockdown, and I'm still making it for her in 2021. Since she can't go out much right now, she truly enjoys her meals, especially when I cook for her, even though she doesn't ask for much.

Easy Bread Pizza Recipe
Bread Pizza is a simple, pizza-like snack that uses bread slices instead of atraditional pizza base. It's incredibly easy to prepare and makes a fantastic choice for lunchboxes or a quick bite. This recipe is a frequent go-to for mewhen I want something like pizza but don't have a pizza base on hand, or the time to buy or bake one.
Ingredients
- 6 Bread slices
- 1 tablespoon Butter
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Oregano
Spices
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon Chilli Flake
- 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese 75g, shredded
- 4 tablespoon Pizza Sauce I use homemade
To make Veg Topping
- 1 Onion
- 1 Bell Pepper
- 6 Mushroom
- ¼ Brocolli
- 3 Garlic Clove
- 50 g Paneer / Tofu optional
To make Non-veg Topping
- ½ cup boiled Chicken or other meat to be used instead of Paneer/ Tofu
- 1 Sausage
- 1 Bacon
Instructions
Prep Work:
- Chop the onion and bell pepper into small pieces.
- Also, cut the broccoli and mushrooms.
- Mince the garlic. Cut the paneer, tofu, boiled chicken, other meats, sausage, or bacon into small pieces.
For a Vegetarian Pizza Topping:
- Heat olive oil in a pan. Add the chopped onion and cook for one minute.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook until it smells fragrant.
- Add all the chopped vegetables. Season with salt, black pepper, half of the chili flakes, and half of the oregano.
- Mix everything well.
- Add pizza sauce and mix again. Cook for two minutes, then add the paneer or tofu and stir gently.
- Your topping is now ready.
For a Non-Vegetarian Pizza Topping:
- If you're using bacon, cook it in an empty pan over low heat to render its fat.
- Then, add the vegetables as described for the vegetarian topping and cook them.
- If you're not using bacon, follow the same steps as for the vegetarian pizza topping.
- Instead of paneer or tofu, add boiled meat or sausage and cook for three to four minutes to complete your non-vegetarian pizza topping.
To make Bread Pizza on a Tawa:
- Butter both sides of your bread slices.
- Spread the topping generously over each slice.
- Finally, sprinkle a good amount of mozzarella cheese on top of the topping.
- Now, heat a pan over a low flame.
- Place the bread slices on it and cook until the cheese has melted. The butter will naturally brown the bottom of the bread.
- Once done, remove it and serve hot.
For oven preparation:
- First, preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes.
- Then, take a pizza pan and lightly brush it with olive oil.
- Arrange the pizza slices on the pan (prepared as described in the pan method).
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Finally, take it out of the oven and serve hot.
