About Janmasthami Celebration at home
In my family, we have a simple, loving puja for Gopal on his birthday. In Bengali homes, it's common to have a cute little Gopal Thakur. We affectionately treat him like our own son, offering him everyday treats that aren't always traditional. For example, my "Goplu" (as I call him) enjoys chocolates, toffees, and more! He wears cute cotton shirts and pants regularly, and something extra special on his birthday! My Goplu is only about 2.5 inches tall, but a cherished and important member of our family.
Being Bengali, our offerings to Krishna are mostly Bengali-inspired. Narkel Naru, Mohanbhog, Luchi, and Taler Bora are definitely must-haves!
While my blog usually features Bengali cuisine, this Janmashtami, I'm sharing a variety of recipes, including many Bengali favorites cooked for Krishna's birthday and other dishes from across India, to make your celebration even more special.
One of the most important aspects of Janmashtami celebrations is the preparation of traditional recipes that are believed to be Lord Krishna's favorite. These recipes are not only delicious but also hold great cultural significance.
