Debjani's Note
"What are these, Pasta?" I asked. "Maraschino cherry, Momma, and fresh cherry!" she exclaimed. "Again, please!" I pleaded. "Maraschino cherry!" She repeated. "Pasta, how about just 'cherry' instead? You're only three and a half, sweetheart! Your funny way of talking cracks me up! Why can't you speak like other kids? Maybe try a simple poem?" I mumbled. After a moment, she said, "Momma eat maraschino cherry, Momma, only cherry, now!" I knew it was time to write a new blog post rather than quiz my toddler about cherries! So, here's a recipe for No-Churn Fresh Cherry and Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, perfect for soothing my ego, which my little one had just playfully crushed with her impressive cherry knowledge!
Ingredients
I was so excited when I found fresh cherries at New Market a couple of weeks ago! They're not around all year in Kolkata, and I absolutely adore them. I happily paid a little extra for a box of those delicious cherries. Even Pasta loves them as much as I do! We ended up polishing off the entire 500g box together. To treat ourselves further, I ordered another batch online. The pampering continued, and I decided to make No-Churn Chocolate Chip and Cherry Ice Cream. I much prefer using fresh cherries in cherry ice cream rather than Maraschino cherries, but either works!
Process
Fresh Cherry and Chocolate Chip is a truly irresistible mix. I made the ice cream with vanilla-flavored whipped cream, and the result was simply divine. It was so good, I even caught Mehebub sneaking a bite at 2 AM! Of course, I joined in, and we ended up having a late-night ice cream chat. Pasta, thankfully, was on her best behavior and ate her dinner right on time!
Top Tip
Now, I have to confess, the humid Kolkata weather made it impossible to get a decent photo of the Fresh Cherry and Choco Chip Ice Cream. It was a melty mess! But while the pictures weren't great, the taste was incredible. So, with that in mind, let me share the recipe for this amazing Fresh Chocolate Chip and Cherry Ice Cream.
