“Have your glass of milk Pasta! Hurry please! Momma is late for office again and you are for your school“! This is what Pasta’s mom recites every morning to her almost three year’s old daughter irrespective of the fact whether she is going to obey or not! This is the picture of my house and probably at almost every place where there a mother and child live! Being mother, irrespective of our profession, social class, status it is one of our main concern how to nurture the little munchkin properly; how to give that cute little person proper nutrition so that she/he can grow up properly with proper dose of nutrition. While going through this every day I sometimes think about my childhood; my mom and the way I used to nag while having my food or drink. Believe me it was really difficult for my mom to get me drank my portion of milk. Though Pasta does not hate her portion of milk that much but sometimes she asks for something different; something tasty!
My daughter is about to turn three in two months and she has a perfect taste bud and now I am in process of planning a new menu for her to match with her taste bud. Being an energetic toddler now she needs more nutrition to grow properly and obviously without compromising the taste part. This is probably the perfect time to add something special to her milk to make it more nutritious and healthy. One thing we need to consider here, we don’t need extra calorie to add to the menu of Toddler but required calorie to nurture our child. We don’t need to give them extra food or we don’t need to pressurize them to have their food or drink instead it is required to plan their food properly. I don’t believe in feeding extra instead I believe in feeding good, nutritious. In addition to that I try to feed her local food and I don’t much prefer for fancy eating. Our food habit has a good role to play as part of the upbringing what I want as simple as possible for my daughter. Do I plan her meal? Yes I do? I try to add perfect dose of protein, carbohydrate, vitamins to her portion of food. I try to incorporate colors to her palate, leafy vegetables, and moderate portion of non-vegetarian food. Fruits are very important and my little pumpkin loves to have her portion of fruits; I however prefer to give her whole fruit instead of Juice given fiber is important! Nutrition part is important but being mother we know how kids love the presentation; and that is why I try to present her food differently. I prefer to play with her with the fruits and veggies. Tricks are several and all meant for the proper physical and mental growth of the little angel of the family.
My little one is going to turn three in two months and I am in process of revisiting her menu shortly because now it is time to add some supplements to her food. While talking about the supplements; Horlicks is something clicks my mind on the first note! Something I used to drink along with an extra spoonful of the powder for licking when I was young (still I am BTW)! It is not only the taste but our believe over the health drink that makes it special and you can visit Horlicks Growth+ for further details and you can use hashtag #CatchUpOnGrowth for similar posts on how others think about the requirement of proper child growth!
