    Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus

    I am a hard-core Middle-Eastern food fan and at least 5-6 times a month I end up eating Lebanese Sandwich filled with Hummus at office. Hummus is a classical Arabic Chickpea dip and there are several variations available for Hummus. Hummus with Roasted Red Bell Pepper is of the commonest variable.…. I just love the aroma of Roasted Bell Pepper in Hummus….I can’t get bored while having Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus and the best part is, it is healthy and I don’t need to think about bad calories while having it as a dip to my sandwiches..

    While preparing Hummus, Tahini plays a major role and I have already shared the recipe of homemade Tahini in my blog. Tahini is actually a paste prepared with Sesame Seed and you may click here for the recipe of Tahini.  I always prefer to use homemade Hummus though it is easily available in market.

    Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus

    I mostly prepare a bit extra Hummus and store it for 4-5 days since I love to replace it with butter or other spread while having my morning Bread or I mostly use it as part of my Office lunch as a spread to my Sandwiches filled with veggies or Chicken strips or sometimes with homemade Pita Bread. Even my little one loves Hummus with Pita Bread since it’s not that spicy…

    Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus


    • Total Time: 8 hours 20 minutes

    Ingredients

    Units Scale
    • Chickpea/ Kabuli Chana: 2 cup
    • Tahini : 1 Cup
    • Red Bell Pepper: 1
    • Garlic: 7-8 clove
    • Lemon Juice: 2 Tbsp.
    • Paprika: 1 Tsp.
    • Black Pepper: ½ Tsp.
    • Olive Oil: ½ cup
    • Salt: 1 Tsp.


    Instructions

    1. Soak Chickpeas overnight or for 4-5 hours in plain water along with ½ Tsp. Salt.
    2. Take soaked Chickpeas in a pressure Cooker and add water and the boil till 4 whistles comes from the cooker. Let the cooker cooled completely and then remove the lid and strain the water.
    3. Deseed the Red Bell Pepper and Roast it on medium flame for around 5 minutes or till it turn soft and then let the pepper cool.
    4. Remove the skin completely from the pepper.
    5. Now take Boiled Chickpeas, Roasted Bell Pepper, Tahini , Garlic, Lemon Juice, half of the Paprika, Black Pepper, Olive Oil and ½ Tsp. Salt in a food processor and make a smooth paste. You may add some more oil and little water in the paste.
    6. What else!
    7. Hummus with Roasted Bell Pepper is ready..
    8. Hummus is a nutritious dip and can be used while making sandwiches and can be served with Pita Bread.
