Pretty much everyone loves fried food. And pretty much everything can be fried! Frying just makes things taste better. Unfortunately, when people consider eating something fried for their next meal, it often means going out to eat.

Many home chefs see frying food as something out of their reach. But it's really not that complicated. All you need is a good deep fryer, some oil, and a little bit of practice.

Frying is a delicious and fun way to make food for family and friends. Despite its mass appeal, many people don't know where to start when it comes to frying. Read on, and we'll walk you through everything you need to know so that you can be better prepared to pick the best deep fryer for you.

Electric Deep Fryer

The most common option you will find on the market today is the electric deep fryer. These are easy to use and safe for indoor cooking. The majority of these are on the small side, so they are ideal for cooking foods like shrimp or vegetables. If you wanted to fry something like a whole chicken, you would probably have to invest in the larger and more expensive versions.

Propane Deep Fryers

Many frying connoisseurs will argue that the propane deep fryer is going to get you the tastiest and crispiest results. With that said, because you are working with propane, you will need to use extra caution with this appliance. A propane deep fryer can only be used outdoors. Plus, you will have to deal with a propane tank, which some people might find burdensome.

Air Fryers

Air fryers are becoming increasingly popular within the kitchen appliance market. They are actually closer in nature to a convection oven than a deep fryer. Touted as a healthier frying option, these nifty machines work by rapidly circulating hot air around your food, and they only require a fraction of the oil you would use in a standard fryer.

They are also the safest option to use and very easy to clean. The downsides are that your food is not going to be as crispy as it would be with traditional frying. Also, these machines are on the more expensive side.

Safety of deep fryers

While pretty much all kitchen appliances come with some risk, deep fryers can be especially dangerous when used improperly. Most kitchen fires start due to unattended cooking. So, if you are planning to fry for a party or Thanksgiving dinner, you need to understand that you must spend your frying time in the kitchen.

Always read the instructions on your fryer thoroughly. And never overfill the oil. Although you don't want to underfill your oil, it is still a preferred problem for your oil boiling over.

The capacity of deep fryers

Consider the sizes of the foods you intend to fry. If you are only feeding yourself and maybe a few other people, then a standard electric or air fryer might be ideal. But if you are planning to throw big fried food dinner parties, then you will want a hefty propane fryer. Otherwise, you'll have to deal with spending a lot of time cooking up food in a smaller appliance.

There are also deep fryers with multiple baskets. These allow you to fry different foods at the same time and can be especially handy for party snacks.

Choosing Your Deep Fryer

If you are someone who enjoys eating fried food often, you can save a lot of money cooking it yourself. Plus, frying food is a great way to broaden your cooking skills and impress your friends. Just always be sure to follow your machine's instructions and never leave an active fryer unattended.
