"Debjani where to go for Bengali Pujor Khabar this year?" this was a friend from my complex!

"Debjani Dada is coming after 5 years during pujo! Where can we take him and his family for quintessential Bengali food!" This was Ahana, my childhood friend who hates cooking (don't kill me Aahi!)

"Dolon (well this is my dak nam) we are planning to have Bengali thali somewhere special. Where do you recommend?" My own brother this one!

"DCA wanted to take my family for Bengali lunch! We would prefer something traditional? Where should we go?"; a non-Bengali colleague who is planning to take her parents for the first time for Bengali lunch!

Pujor Khabar 2018

They are the reason I have decided to list out the Bengali food offerings as part of my Pujor Khabar Listicle. Not that I don't eat other variations during Pujo but found people wanted to savor true blue Bengali food outside.  Here I must mention I was not able to try each and every offering I am mentioning below this year. Blame it to my tight schedule. However, I have tried their food over the years have confidence in their offerings!

Grand Pujor Mahabhoj by The Oberoi Grand:

Whatever they do; they do it with poise! Yes, that is what The Oberoi Grand to you. Brilliant food and amazing hospitality are the USPs.  They have come up with rare and lesser-known age-old recipes from Bengal and mostly emphasizing on homely comfort food. Their Bengali spread for sure is prepared to keep in mind the age-old Bengali delicacies and the appetite. #grandpujormohabhoj2018 is indeed grand.

My Picks and suggestion: Kosha mangsho, Chingri malai curry  Chingrir Chop, Macher Kochuri, and housemade Sweets are for sure must have from the buffet. Here I must mention the kucho chingri diye kalmisaager boda, kathal pata diye boda, aam ar macher jhol, aamada diye bhaja mooger dal! Though not part of the buffet but Ilish paturi for sure is a gem from he Mahabhoj Menu. I also had the Posto Paturi and Chingri Paturi. From the Dessert spread, I had my share of Khir Kodom, rajbhog, chanar payesh and Roshomalai.

Here's what Chef Rajat is saying about the Grand Pujor Mahabhoj.
