There isn't anybody in this world who doesn't love eating sweets. India is a secular country which has many festivals clubbed for the entire year and there isn't a single occasion among them which is not celebrated without sweets. We all love sweets but, it is a fact that majority of us have not tried the varieties of sweets that the country has to offer. Each state in India has its own numerous varieties of sweets. All of us are familiar with the regular rasgullas, rasmalai and kheer but, nothing more than that.

 

A lot of varieties of sweets are available in our country which is not yet known to all. Since we have many festivals lined up for the upcoming months, have a look at the list of these 15 must try sweet dishes if you are in India. Make sure that you enjoy any one of them in the upcoming festivals…

Kali Gajar Ka Halwa

Kali Gajar ka Halwa is one of the most popular Indian desserts which is made from black carrots. The main highlight of this sweet dish is that you do not need to grate the carrots for the preparation. The ingredients, as well as the preparation time needed, are very less and you get to taste a yummy dish in a quick span of time.

Ghari

Ghari is a popular sweet dish from Gujarat. This sweet is available in many varieties, the most common one available is made up of puri batter, milk mawa, ghee and sugar. Adding pistachios, almonds-elaichi and mawa give the dish a different and unique taste.

Kaddu Ki Kheer

Wondering what is this sweet dish? It is made with white Pumpkin and is common in Hyderabad. You can enhance the taste of this dish more by adding ghee, saffron and cardamom powder. A little of almonds will be an added decoration.

Jamun Ice Cream

There are various varieties when it comes to Ice Cream flavors. But, this Jamun flavored ice Cream will leave your mouth watering each time you think of it. It tastes yummy when had with a scoop of whipped cream.

Phirni

Phirni which is also popularly known as firni is a classic Indian sweet pudding that is a must have dish in North India during any festival or function. It gives a very much creamy texture and is made from ground rice, milk, saffron, and sugar. It really has a great taste and is liked by all.

Ghevar

Ghevar is a popular Rajasthani sweet that is traditionally associated with the Teej festival. It is made with all-purpose flour soaked in sugar syrup. It has a disc shape.
