You may think even before reading the blog post, that I am saying Zam Zam Restaurant Kolkata's best Beef Biryani! No, my friend, I am not claiming the same however, I am neither denying the fact too. How can I, when the ever busy Zam Zam Restaurant never fails to maintain the consistency? For me, consistency matters a lot when it comes to eating out and even when somebody is cooking at home too. Zam Zam Restaurant will definitely get a distinction on the consistency part.

Beef Biryani

Friday, Republic day and a leave! That was enough for me and Mehebub to plan a lunch outside the home. Our morning was booked by the little one; we went t to her favorite breakfast place and typical English breakfast with Ham omelette and Chicken bacon sandwiches but we decided to have something Mughlai for the lunch. We were initially thinking to visit a joint called Beeru's that sells really good beef dishes according to my friends. However, we were a bit late for the lunch and was not sure whether Beeru's will be available with the food suggested. Naturally, we decided to stick to our old favorite Zam Zam restaurant for our plate of beef Biryani.

The good old place, we are visiting since long and with the confidence that they will not deny us the perfect portion of the beef biryani. However. Zam Zam Restaurant is not only about Beef Biryani but several more favorites as well.

The first item I must mention is the Beef Bhuna.  It goes perfectly with the Beef Biryani as a side and you can have it with Roti as well. My worse half preferred the Beef Bhuna with Roti while I love it with the Biryani. Today, for the first time we have ordered the Beef Malai at Zam Zam Restaurant. A bit sweeter, this dish was worth trying for sure. However, if you like your portion of red meat spicy then Beef Malai is not your thing. The dish is prepared with the good amount of milk cream and hence is a bet on the sweeter side.

The Beef Biryani, I have mentioned in the previous paragraphs is loved by the beef eaters in Kolkata since long and why not. lightly spiced rice with a melting in the mouth, piece of Beef and a big chunk of Potato; what else you want in your Kolkata Beef Biryani. The rice quality has always been good here and so the quality of beef. In addition, the biryani is not unnecessarily oily and loaded with fat and that makes it better.

The Biryani goes amazingly with the Ghol or the Burhani that they serve at Zam Zam Restaurant. spicy, curd based drink, Burhani is not something you can get in every Mughlai restaurant in Kolkata. We paired our food with a glass of Burhani and a plate of Salad.

Dessert is obviously a must try here. I strongly recommend the Firni which is not loaded with Itr or flavoring. Instead, it is a creamy, rich affair. In Zam Zam Restaurant, they sell Milk Cream or Malai with Sugar. This is a steal deal if you love thick milk cream as dessert.

One thing I must mention here, the service part. Witing time after ordering the food is actually less than 5 minutes here that too on a typical busy date. This probably what makes a place everybody's favorite. Last but not the least, the price is another point to consider Zam Zam restaurant. For a plate of Beef Biryani, 1 plate of Beef Bhuna, 1 plate of Beef malai, 2 Roti, Salad, one Cold drink, one Ghol, One Firni and One Malai we paid INR 326!
