Bloggers table at Social Kitchen - Holiday Inn Kolkata and me back to the game again!

The city if joy has welcomed another international property a few months back; we now have Holiday Inn Kolkata at New town adjacent to City centre 2. I was there last month for a blogger's table with a bunch of friends. The visit was a bit special to me; it was for the first time after my hospitalization and the weird facial problem I left home for a social gathering and it went just perfect.

I was giving a second thought to the meet as the weird facial problem that I am presently dealing with is not left me with a smile on my face till now and at that time it was worse. However, after getting a few calls from the fellow bloggers I decided to give the meet a chance. Surprisingly after being there for an hour, I forgot that I was looking weird with no smile but when you have good company accompanied with good food you feel good and that is what happened to me.

My friends had always been fun and but the food and the ambience at Social Kitchen by Holiday Inn Kolkata obviously played the role of positive catalyst I somehow forgot the memories of the hospital! Being the happy go, lucky group, we are, we have sampled both the Buffet spread and selected items from the ala carte over there and now that I have to write about the vast spread I actually am confused from where to start and how to end! Errr the food spread was that vast and delicious!

Ala Carte Spread at Social Kitchen by Holiday Inn Kolkata:

Let me tell you that I ended on requesting one additional serving of the Green Peas Cappuccino and forgot to click a single picture which is so very NOT Debjani, the food blogger thing; that good was the cappuccino was! I did skip the mocktail as at that time I was not allowed to have anything much chilly and I ended on having the refreshing Tomato Mozzarella Salad which is, in fact, a perfect salad a vegetarian can order. Next came a Hara Bhara Kebab and a Chef's special Paneer starter.

We have tried their Murg Malai Tikka and Tandoori Chicken as well along with the fried Calamari and a few more dish. From the starters, I found the Tandoori Chicken, Fried Calamari and the Chef's special Paneer Kebab just perfect for my appetite. The Fish Steak was a perfect meal and juicy and flavorful from the core.

Buffet at Social Kitchen by Holiday Inn Kolkata:

The finance analyst in me (and the typical middle-class bong foodie as well) was happy with the price set for the buffet which is INR 899 (all inclusive) for Lunch and INR 999 for dinner (all inclusive) which is actually a great deal considering the spread. The buffet was balanced with the food items from different cuisine. I have tried a little of the Fig Salad, Noodles along with the Freshwater Prawn in Trio Pepper, followed by the Biriyani and mutton. As I already was full with the items from Ala carte I restricted myself in the buffet but couldn't resist but to try the coconutty Lamington, a few sugar coated crunchy nuts and obviously a serving of the Kheer and Pastry.

Will I go back there at Social Kitchen by Holiday Inn Kolkata! Well, my answer is a big fat yes, I obviously will and why not when the food is actually good and value for money.
