“Hey you! Aren’t you exited seeing me after a long year?”
“Errrr… should I really need to be exited seeing my 6 years old wife (that’s the age of the marriage) and 9 years old fiancé… oho I just forgot! Is it nine or more than that and a friendship beyond that! Goshhhh are we turning old wifie! No my dear woman I don’t think it is wise missing the old wife”, the obnoxious man replied after returning from his year long foreign assignment!
“Do you know one thing Mr Husband that old wife and old Wine are equally charming and tasty”
“Wine! Where is wine!! That too old wine!” The man replied..
“Well you have your old wife and the wife is going to offer you a chance to witness old wine virtually but an Italian dinner date at a prime restaurant to substitute the wine”!
“What do you mean by prime restaurant?”
Now the wife finally able to take the lead with her genre and replied, “Keep guessing! By the way have you heard about the Restaurant Week India?”
“No what is that?” the man asked curiously!
The woman replied “Well Restaurant Week is a PAN India culinary event to provide fine dine experience at some of countries’ top notch restaurants to the food enthusiasts at a very lower costs and the costs are fixed based on the cities instead of the restaurants. In Kolkata people can opt for lunch or Dinner at a rate of 900+ taxes per person at some of the city’s biggest food joints and the similar rates are there for Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune from Friday, 16th September to Sunday, 25th September, 2016.
The man replied then “are you serious?”
“Hmmm I am and moreover Ola Prime, is the travel sponsor for Restaurant Week and all Restaurant Week guests will receive complimentary Ola rides to and from their meals and they will be given will get be given exclusive booking access 3 days in advance to when general reservations go live and a waiver on the INR 60 per diner booking fee”, the wife replied!
“Debjani which restaurant are you talking about and when are we going?” he asked like an Adrenalin boosted creature!
Finally the woman disclosed the name of the restaurant, “well my dearest husband some of the Kolkata based bloggers are invited for exclusive food sampling for the Restaurant week at their chosen restaurants which are participating in the event and your finance analyst wife is one of them! I am being invited to sample the restaurant week spread at La Cucina, Hyatt Regency this week along with a companion and mind that a chosen one”!
Now the furious man asked “who the hell is the companion?” (The Dumbo forgot that the wife already mentioned about the date! Typical man you see!)
“Well I thought about a romantic dinner date but since you are not interested with your old wife; now I have to think about somebody else!”
“Don’t you know how much I love La Cuchina’s Baked Betki? Errr I mean how much I love you”!
“Hehe I know I know and that’s why I decided to ignore your love for me and to honor your love for perfect Italian food!” the ever forgiving wife replied!
Here ends their discussion and the couple finally went to La Cuchina to enjoy the marvelous spread from the specially crafted menu of Restaurant Week India and without experimenting with the huge options they decided to go with the Chef’s choice with a special mention that they wanted to have the signature dish of La Cuchina which is none other than the Bekti in crosta di zucchini e patate!
Their feast was started with some freshly baked bread with Italian seasoning while the chef was busy elaborating the special menu for the Restaurant week. The dinner started with an Italian Tomato and Mozzarella based Salad, Caprase followed by the rich and creamy Pancotto Soup which is a Tuscan style soup with Pancetta and Bread! It was amazingly flavorful and hence they ended on having the entire portion though the man typically is not a soup lover!
An Italian spread is nothing but incomplete without a perfect portion of Pizza and they were not at all disappointed with the pizza served! It was Della-Casa which is a Pesto spreaded Pizza topped with generous amount of Tomato, sun dried Tomato, Jalapeno and roasted Garlic and Mozzarella.
Their Second Course started with the Gnochhi alla Norma which is thyme infused Potato Gnochhi tossed with Tomato, Aubergine, Capers and Ricotta followed by another signature dish; Penne and Salmon in white sauce! The second course was completed with the house favorite Bekti in crosta di zucchini e patate where Baby Bekti is served with Zuccini and potato Crisps, sautéed Vegetables & Saffron sauce.
On a sweeter note their dinner was ended with Tortino caldo di cioccolato fondente con geleto alla vaniglia which is chocolate tart served with vanilla ice cream! The Tart was filled with hot and rich liquid chocolate which was going perfect with the Vanilla Ice!
While returning home from La Cucina, Hyatt Regency, the happy and satisfied wife was busy sharing the pictures utilizing the wifi which was complementary with their Ola ride and suddenly the man murmured “you know I just realized old wife as good as the old wine especially when that creature is intelligent enough to plan for a perfect dinner date! By the way when is the next date!”
