How to make Taler Bora on Janmashtami

Taler Bora, also known as taler fuluri, is a signature Bengali fritter made by blending Tal pulp, whole wheat flour, semolina, rice flour, and jaggery into a batter. This dish is a Bengali Janmashtami Special dessert prepared with Sugar Palm.

Thoroughly clean the Tal fruit

carefully remove the crown by gently pressing inward and peeling off the outer black skin.

softly press the fibrous kernels (seeds) to separate them.

One by one, grate the fibrous kernels, and the juice will be naturally separated from the fiber

If needed, sprinkle some additional water on the kernels while extracting the juice.

Repeat this process with the remaining kernels and collect the juice in the bowl.

Prepare the batter for Taler Bora by simmering the extracted Tal juice in a wok over medium heat for 5-7 minutes

add wheat flour and mix vigorously

incorporate semolina

add rice flour

Now add jaggery

add nigella seed

mix thoroughly

mix in coconut

if needed add some more taler maari and complete the batter

heat oil sufficiently to fry taaler bora

fry till golden brown and crisp
