.The typical true blue overly nostalgic Bong was happy to sample the food at Tiretti by Tak Heng and why not especially when the old style Chinese food at Tiretta Market is now nothing but history. I will for sure share the present status of the Chinese eateries at Tiretta Market sometimes in near future but this post is meant for the new Chinese Restaurant with the old flavors in the city of joy, Tiretti by Tak Heng. As it is quite understandable from the name itself, the owner has given special thought while naming and even while planning the menu, and interior to add every possible glimpse of the China town joints.
The Cozy Chinese eatery is located at Raja Basanta Roy Road. I was invited there to sample the delicious Chinese spread along with a group of food bloggers from Kolkata. The interior matching with the name, no fuss with the minimal but required decor. The only thing I found a little odd is the mismatch of the crockery and plastic glasses. However, those were not looking bad given they wanted to present the homely charm I guess like a typical old-age China town eatery. In fact, I found the service also on the same line. A bit casual may be intentional carelessness of the servers was just like we used to see in the old eateries.
Our meal started with something that is not Chinese but the chilled Ice Cream Soda and Ginger Ale by Cotton. It seems Tak Heng people know how to play positively with the nostalgic Bengalis and their age-old preferences. However, the first item served was the Fish Ball Soup, which I was told, prepared with "Chitol Mach". For me, the soup, in fact, was the best item served on that day.
The soup is something I would recommend my readers to try out for sure at Tiretti by Tak Hein. With three Fish Balls, lightly spiced, well complimented with the fluffy Pork Bao it was really good. I have added a bit sauce to make it perfect to my taste-bud, The Prawn Har gaw, which basically is a type of Cantonese Dumpling, served next and I found it quite good to taste, though, a bit different from the authentic version of the dish that is prepared with the whole prawn in general. Next, we were served with the Pork Ribs and I thoroughly have enjoyed it.
Coming to the main course, I quite enjoyed the Pan-friedNoodles and Ginger Rice along with a subtle side of Chicken which was one the average side. The meal ended with the typical traditional Tutti Frutti and a dessert with Churros and "Amsotto" (I forgot the name).
I found the delectable offering of All Day Chinese Breakfast Menu by Tiretti by Tak Heng really tempting, something one can try from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and again 12 pm to 11 p.m. along with the dose of Cotton's Ice Cream Soda and Ginger Ale!
