I have tried so many things to learn in my life which is even including of guitar lesson, Piano lesson and even learning French 3 years back and like many thing else I ended on learning nothing given to my super lethargic nature 😯 however I managed to recall few common French phrases…. And “La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin” is one of my favorite which means "Life is too short to drink bad wine" . I didn’t find this but anything to start this post on my experience of a perfect French Dinner organized by the Novotel, Kolkata as part of the “Goût de France!” festival on 21st March, 16 at the Square. Goût de France which literally means taste of France is a French food festival joined by around 1000 restaurants and was celebrated by 8 restaurants across the city of joy and I was invited by the Novotel, Kolkata to celebrate authentic French food there.
A perfect French man (or woman) is who believes in Mangez bien (eat well) instead of live well and since I am not a French but Bengali, I believe in both living and eating enthusiastically 😉 . I really have “bien mange” (eaten well) and enjoyed every drop of my wine on the evening of 21st March along with some like minded food bloggers.
Let me start with the dishes that we have cherished there and to start with let me share some more detail of the best dish of the dinner which was a “Cappuccino of Forest Mushrooms with gruyere foam”; moderately hot and subtle taste of Mushrooms; the cappuccino was worth to start with and was the queen of the day.
The dinner then followed by a moderate portion of salad with composed watermelon, blood orange and a feta aged coulis which was perfectly refreshing and was a charger.
Pan fried Bekti along with asparagus and lobster risotto was the dish served as part of main course and I being a fan of the perfectly cooked fish served by Novotel every time enjoyed it a lot but the “ Bheto Bangali” inside me was not happy with the portion of Risotto for obvious reason 😳 but taste-wise it was worth having for sure.
The dinner ended with a superb looking dessert where French vanilla ice cream was placed under a cave of chocolate along with a twist of poached pears (chocolate sphere spice poached pears, chocolate soil with French vanilla ice cream.
Apart from the dishes that I have tried few more authentic French dishes were available as part of the dinner which were worth capturing through my lens.
Disclaimer: Debjani was invited by the Novotel separately and she represented Kolkatafoodbloggers as well there.
